Professional Women in Building Council

The HBA of Greater Des Moines Professional Women in Building Council is dedicated to promoting, enhancing and encouraging home building and women in the industry. It supports the future of the home building industry through a scholarship program.

The Professional Women in Building Council represents women who are HBA members, member employees or family members of those in the industry. The national Women's Council is affiliated with nearly 100 local and state councils throughout the country.

For members, the Professional Women in Building Council offers education, networking opportunities, travel benefits, information access and access to other Council and HBA services.

Professional Women in Building Scholarship Program:
The Professional Women in Building Council awards multiple scholarships each year to students. The students must be residents of Iowa and pursuing a career in the home building industry and related trades. Applications from high school, college and graduate educational levels are accepted. Preference is given to those in the lower educational levels first. The scholarship award is up to $1,000.00 per student and the school (or according to the school's requirements). Scholarships are a one (1) time award. Students are eligible to apply and receive funding in successive years.

Purpose:
To provide scholarship funds to students pursuing careers in home building and/or related fields.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be a resident of Iowa and pursuing a career in the home building and/or related fields.

Scholarship Awards:
The scholarship award shall be up to $1,000.00 per selected recipient. Multiple recipients are chosen each year. Funds will be paid directly to the recipient's chosen educational institution in the name of the recipient and the educational institute (or as required by the institution).

Recipient Requirements:
Each scholarship recipient will be featured in an article for the Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines Area (HBA DM) publication, “The Homebuilders Blueprint”. Information for this article will be taken from the recipient's application and/or by contacting the recipient.

PWB Scholarship Committee:
This committee consists of members of the Professional Women in Building (PWB) of HBA DM. This committee reviews and selects the scholarship recipients. The decision of the Committee shall be final.

How to apply:
Applicants must submit a completed application form to the PWB Scholarship Committee. Applications are accepted until February 15^th of the year the scholarship is to be awarded (i.e. applications for the 2010 scholarships are accepted until February 15, 2010). Applicants are eligible to apply and receive a scholarship in successive years. Scholarships are a one-time award.

Application submission requirements:

All applications MUST be received on or before February 15^th of the year the scholarship is to be awarded.
Late and/or incomplete applications will NOT be accepted.

FEBRUARY 15^th Application must be received
MARCH 15^th Notification to scholarship recipients
MAY Recognition ceremony of PWB Scholarship recipients.
